What is Cleaner Air Oregon?

In November 2018, Oregon adopted Cleaner Air Oregon to protect communities around industrial facilities. The program requires all facilities with air permits, like The Ulven Companies, to submit an inventory of all potential emissions and to calculate the potential health risks to residents located near select facilities.

Why are The Ulven Companies participating in Cleaner Air Oregon?

The Oregon DEQ reviewed and created a list of 20 priority sites. Wolf Steel Foundry, one of Ulven’s five companies, will be among the next group of facilities across the state to participate in the program starting in 2021.

What’s next?

As part of the risk assessment process, we are working with the Oregon DEQ to collect and report information on our emissions and develop modeling on how those emissions affect our community.

Additionally, we have installed several new dust collectors, or baghouses, to enhance the control of emissions from the facility.

What does this mean for our community?

Wolf Steel Foundry has operated for several years under state air permits without violations. Cleaner Air Oregon is part of Ulven’s ongoing effort to continuously improve our already strict environmental guidelines so that neighboring residents and surrounding communities enjoy cleaner, healthier air.

While this will be a significant undertaking for The Ulven Companies, we’re happy to be among many Oregon companies to take part in this important process.
